Mission
The West Central Missouri Veterans Assistance League (VAL) is the sole non-profit organization dedicated to serving the heroes who live at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. Their mission is to provide for the social, moral, physical and educational welfare of the 200 Veterans residing at the Home.

In the early 1990s, a number of visionary local community members recognized Warrensburg’s potential as an ideal location for a State Veterans Home. Starting in 1994, long-time resident Marvin Neal, an Army Veteran, began traveling door-to-door and making presentations to local civic groups to rally support for the cause. In 1995, Neal and fellow supporter Nancy Anderson formally established the Veterans Assistance League (VAL) to formalize fundraising and other support measures for the project. As the initiative gained momentum, VAL helped guide lobbying efforts at the state capital. In June 1998, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the 200-bed skilled nursing home, and in September 2000, the first Veteran moved in.

Since the Home’s inception, VAL has continued to serve as a critical partner in the care of our Nation’s Veteran Heroes. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, VAL funds are used solely to support Missouri Veterans Home-Warrensburg Veterans programs and quality of life projects.

VAL only serves the 200 Veterans who reside at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
